Car 34 – 1960 Chevrolet Impala V8 Convertible
Owning a classic American car was a boy-hood dream of mine. When I came across this baby I simply couldn’t resist its great body-lines, the way she sits & looks. The best features are mostly the rear-end; from the rear wheel covers to the rear lights which are simply stunning!
I purchased this beautiful car back in Nov’ 98. Back then it was in need of restoration, which took me 7 years to complete!
So since ’98 she has had a complete ‘ground-up’ restoration, engine rebuild & transmission overhaul. Brand new interior, up-to-date sound system (which is cleverly concealed), various mechanical updates including: electronic ignition, alternator conversion & front brake disc conversion, uprated edelbrock carburettor & intake manifold.
People are ‘Gob Smacked’ when they first see the car, the attention she gets on the road from other motorists & general public is incredible & the people that get to take a ride feel like ‘rock stars or royalty’ such is the adulation.
I like the respect & attention the car gets, this makes me so happy as my hard work, time & money is well spent & appreciated by all who set eyes on her.
Of course people are always asking questions when ever possible but mostly I get asked – ‘What is it?’ or ‘What year is that from?’
Claim to fame-wise, the vehicle was used in a Sony TV advert & was used to chauffeur the band: ALL SAINTS on a London tour. The vehicle was also featured in a 5 page spread in the CLASSIC AMERICAN Magazine.
