Car 45 – 2005 Mustang GT 4.6 V8
I have always liked the style and image of American muscle cars, ever since owning a few Matchbox Mustangs and Camaro’s as a child.
When deciding which car to buy I was looking for something with old school muscle car looks but with the reliability and comfort of a more modern car. My S197 model of Mustang was the obvious choice, and I also loved the colour ‘Windveil’ metallic blue (similar to a colour available for Mustangs in the 1960’s). The car is very rare in the UK and I am not aware of another manual V8 coupe in Windveil Blue in the country, having owned this one myself for three years now.
Since owning the car I have made several, mainly cosmetic, modifications including; wheels, colour coding the door mirrors, clear bumper light lenses, the hood scoop, a private plate (V8 USR) and inside a pistol grip gear shift and parking brake. However, my favourite upgrade is the Flowmaster ‘Outlaw’ exhaust which I had shipped over from the US and makes the car sound like an old school V8 (well as much as a relatively modern engine can!).
Not surprisingly the car does draw attention and people always ask how many MPG I get and what it is like to drive. The comments I get often include that they heard the V8 rumble of the car before they could see it and that the light metallic blue with cream interior is perfect for a wedding car, and really stands out from the usual Limos or Humvees.
