Car 11 – 2007 Ford Mustang GT Convertible California Special
Here we have a Mustang GT California Special in Vista Blue, it is equipped with a 300bhp V8 engine with automatic transmission. The California Special was a limited edition that Ford made of the Mustang, it includes a two tone interior, air scoops on the side – just in front of the rear wheels, GT500 bumpers and chrome five spoke wheels.
We purchased the car new in Houston, Texas USA from Loan Star Ford. It was a factory order so we could pick all the extras we wanted. There was a waiting list for a new Mustang so it took 10 weeks for Ford to make it and send it down from Flat Rock, Michigan. After it had its pdi at the dealers it was then put in a shipping container and on to a ship for its journey across the Atlantic landing in Southampton for our collection. When a vehicle from the USA comes into this country it needs some changes to pass the government Individual Vehicle Approval test. We did this work and registered it in 2007.
The Mustang shares garage space with a 1960s Bentley and a 1950s Austin A30. You can see we enjoy an unusual collection of cars, which we love to use whenever we can. We join in with car clubs for all three and a big part of enjoying them is being able the share them for wedding hire. The best thing about the Mustang is the noise its V8 engine makes. To enhance this we have fitted GT500 KR rear boxes, which give a lovely rumble but not too intrusive, for a real entrance we can flick a switch and missing out the boxes and have a real roar to enjoy.
Because it’s a convertible it allows us to arrive at the church with the hood down for the best pictures but can put the hood up to protect your hair on the journey there if the weather is not so good.
We have been privileged to be part of many wedding and you are most welcome to come and look at the car before making up your mind.
